Almanak

An ambient almanac for Android TV and Google TV, made to be left on: time, weather, the next bus in real time, sun and moon, a generative sky.

CI passing
Almanak in its Nocturne theme: the time in large serif numerals, the date, the moon phase and a five-day forecast.

A TV screen that stays on in the living room and shows what you glance at on the way out: the time readable across the room, the date, the weather now and over the next days, the next buses at your stop in real time, sunrise, sunset and the moon, a fact of the day, and a sky that follows the hour. It also works as the TV’s screensaver.

  • Open data, no account, no ads: Open-Meteo for the weather, GTFS-realtime for the buses, a transit network that can be configured.
  • Three themes: Nocturne, Minimal and Paper. This site borrows its palettes and its type from them.
  • Setup from the phone: the TV shows a QR code that opens a settings page on the local network.

The first project of the family of TV apps, and the first ALGOTITAN pilot: its CI and its report came from the agents. The public repository is a clean snapshot; the full history stays private.
