Lukarne

A night-and-day globe of live webcams for Android TV, fed by a catalogue of about 830 cams rebuilt every day. The catalogue is public; the app is still on the bench.

daily data
Lukarne's globe at night, lights where the webcams are, the New York and New England region selected.

Turn on the TV, grab the remote and travel: spin a globe with a real day and night line, dive into a region, see a wall of live webcams, jump from one camera to the next without waiting.

  • The globe: OpenGL ES at 60 frames per second on an NVIDIA Shield, 34 regions reachable with the remote’s arrows.
  • The walls: nine tiles per place, the focused one live within about two seconds.
  • The catalogue: YouTube live streams, road cams from California and Delaware, weather cams from Finland. A GitHub Actions job rebuilds it every day, probes the streams so dead ones drop out, and keeps the previous cams when a source fails.

The catalogue is the public part, linked here. The app reached v1.0.0 and stays private until its public release.
